About

Michael Carswell II is an Atlanta based woodwind instrumentalist, composer, and arranger. Throughout his career, he has performed with the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Georgia State University Jazz Ensembles, and small bands throughout the metro Atlanta area. Within these groups, he has had the privilege to perform with Miguel Zenon, Marshall Gilkes, Sean Jones, and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Beyond performing music, Michael has a deep passion for storytelling that guides his performing, composing, and arranging. With a versatile compositional voice spanning from jazz to classical and everywhere in between, Michael strives to create lasting melodies with emotional equity, serving to unfold compelling narratives.

Lessons


I have been teaching for just over four years, working with high schools and middle schools as a Marching Band Technician, LGPE Clinician, and Jazz Band Clinician. My teaching philosophy is to connect with my students and find creative ways to help them grow, not only as musicians, but as people.
